Air Jordan 3
Nike Air Jordan III received the touch of design genius from Tinker Hatfield. The third installment in the Jordan series featured the Jumpman logo and signature elephant print.
During the 1987-1988 basketball season, Michael Jordan was the All-Star MVP, Slam Dunk Contest winner, Defensive Player of the Year, and a member of the All-Defensive First Team. Through all this success, Jordan wore the Air Jordan III. Designer Tinker Hatfield aimed to create a lightweight, yet durable shoe. Together, Hatfield and Jordan decided to make the Air Jordan III a mid-top, the first of its kind to be seen in the Air Jordan line. On this model, Hatfield placed the famous Jumpman logo on the back of the heel, and added the token elephant print on the toe box. Also, the AJIII's were the first Jordans to showcase a visible air unit.
According to sneaker fiends worldwide, the Air Jordan 3 consistently rates as one of the greatest sneakers of all time. The Air Jordan 3 is also the most popular in the Air Jordan lineup.
